Proud son moment!
Coming from a creative household, I was influenced by music and art at a young age. My Dad in particular was a musician and played in various bands before I was born, he has some amazing stories and was a bit of a star in his own right back in the day!
Well, my Dad's band, Asgard, just had a release some 50 years later. The recording, dating back to the 1970s, was rescued by Rise Above Records, who meticulously glued back together the only recording on acetate still in existence so that they could finally release the record Trivialities!
Asgard was a 3-piece progressive rock band based in Coventry, with influences such as Pink Floyd, Velvet Underground, they were very experimental and managed to capture the eyes and ears of legendary radio DJ John Peel who had planned to sign them.
My Dad has had the fantastic opportunity to finally release the recording and I’m super proud to see his early dreams come alive on vinyl. I’m defo getting a copy for my collection, despite it not being to my taste exactly, this is one I would be super proud to own, the sentimental and legacy value is huge.
It proves that it’s never too late to keep pushing your dreams forward and you never know what might happen in the future!
